WiFi in Campervans

104

WiFi in Campervans is a cool thing to have and nowadays more folk expect it! WiFi is a wireless system that permits PCs with a WiFi adapter to attach to a WiFi access point or router. Once the portable computer is hooked up to the access point or router the laptop can use the Net. WiFi is available in more places and now, da da WiFi in Campervans. More campsites are supplying WiFi. There are lots of cafeterias and bars in urbanized areas that offer free WiFi access to all clients. Many libraries offer free WiFi access also. There are a few places where you can pay for WiFi access. There are a rising number of locations offering free WiFi access. This makes carrying your own laptop PC a great choice. Some cafeterias, bars and junk food eateries offer free WiFi access with a purchase.

Some campsites also offer free WiFi. A rising number of libraries offer unrestricted access. It is actually possible to find many unsecured WiFi signals in urbanized areas. Secured signals won’t permit you to connect without the correct key. However an unsecured one will probably allow any one to attach. If you park in a city centre or outside of a flat block then you’ll routinely be ready to receive many various signals. This is a typical way for folks to rob WiFi in campervans, yes it’s technically illegal, but the possibilities of becoming caught are very tiny.

A security loophole in iOS 4.1 (as well as the 4.2 beta, apparently) allows unauthorized access to the iPhone’s contacts, phone functionality, emails and MMS. Spotted by MacRumors forum members, the exploit is straightforward: from the iPhone 4 lockscreen, hit “Emergency Call”, type in a random number and initiate the call, and then press the sleep key as soon as the end-call button appears on-screen. That automatically takes you to the handset’s contact list.

Honestly I just cant see any logic in MacTards reasoning.
Firs buying PORTABLE computer with least features to price ratio, adding to it all kinds crutches to overcome lack of standard I/O ports, and turn it into STATIONARY machine, while any desktop computer would be a better and cheaper choice. Isn't hacking all about unleashing most power for the least possible cost?

Yeah but the 10V charger is my biggest problem with the iPad. So it’s not compatible with my ipod/iphone or any other charger. Also, I can’t charge it through my laptop (PC) as that has a 5V USB output. So Rohan, will your charger be something that can be easily sourced (for keeping at multiple locations or upon loss) or will that have to be taken from NI/ NI dealers?Amit

>Someone should write a distributed computing program in the vein of so that in the event it’s needed, the internets can get to work sharing our processing power to get it decrypted. Modern encryption is designed to take an incredible amount of processing power to brute-force. If I recall correctly, finding the correct key would take every computer on the planet longer than the existence of the universe. It’s not possible with computers today.

Janine,

You should really try Appia Video Communicator. It is a software PC based hosted solution. We have a gateway that can call any H323 endpoint seemlessly and we have already certified to many different distance learning programs. Here is a short list of some of them:

o MSU Museum
o Alaska Sea Life
o Discovery Center
o St Louis University School of Medicine
o Challenger Learning Center
o Cranbrook Institute of Science
o Imagination Station

So basically from a laptop or PC in the class room you can connect directly to any one of these programs or call another software endpoint.

After UK carriers announced plans to subsidize the iPad last week, it was only a matter of time until rivals were simply giving them away. Japanese carrier Softbank is preparing to offer free iPad WiFi + 3G tablets with two year data contracts as part of an “iPad for Everybody” promotion; the iOS slate is free but the 25-month agreement is 4,725 yen ($56) per month.

Juliet Lin @ 8:53 pm #

I love Friends2me because it is a free service and works no matter what US network carrier that you mobile is using provided you have a data plan. If you are lucky enough to have a mobile phone that has a WiFi interface then you can avoid the data charges when you are near a free WiFi access point.

Looks like a great update to the plugin! I updated the plugin and added “define('ATD_KEY', 'YOURKEYHERE');” with the correct key to my wp-config.php but I still get the “API key needed” messages in my blog dashboards. I'm using ron_r's simple multi-site plugin and WPMU 2.8.6. What's strange is that clicking the “enter your API key” link in the message redirects me to the dashboard of another blog on another of my sites. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you.

Remember Apple's PowerBook Duo? It was a portable computer that could be plugged whole into a docking station so you'd have access to all sorts of ports, including one that led to a large screen and full-sized keyboard. I thot that IT sounded like a neat idea, too, just not one that I wanted to spend money on. As it turned out, hardly anybody else did, either.

Jt, (thats my name too) – when it comes to mobile voip, internet service provided by mobile operators is at, the very best, satisfactory. Other wireless means of internet delivery such as WiFi and WiMAX are the future – look at developments in singapore, london, paris to name but a few.

By september, you could telly our mobile operator to hit the dirt as full, national FREE wifi access will be rolled out over singapore. It is the the mobile operators that will need to adjust their business models if they wish to survive in the long term. At the end of the day, they will never be able to compete on price with mVoIP especially as free, public access wifi becomes a reality in more n more places.

Ok, so fring just raised 12m bucks, they probably need to having gone the skype piggy-backing route. but look at companies such as Yeigo, there are under 20 people on permanent staff, and theres been no running to the hills for investors. They're small, agile and efficient – this is what we want from a service provider, and not to be subsidizing manchester uniteds fetish for big bling american SUVs.

Yeigo delivers a world-class mVoIP service over their OWN system – i.e. they didnt buy or free-load off other, already congested, and outdated systems. Granted the technology is a couple years away from being common-place but the beginning is here, now and it works!

The only way MNO's could compete with [...]

First impression… it's a ripoff!
1) you still have to be able to surf… register…check webmail…and then be able (as a visitor) to do paypal or DIRECT moneytransfers.
They refer to some “drucker” system… but don't tell us if they provide such a system…and at what cost?
2) it's a ripoff…
They ask 7,95euro/24h and with it you can indeed surf on all Hotspots4all.net …there are 3 working and 1 planned

no an answer for your hotel is as followed…
When they reservate a room… on the checkin form
Free Wifi Access?
* If you are a linus-member of the http://www.fon.com Wireless comunity you have free access. If you are not yet a member of the fon community we can provide you with wifi access:
[x] we create a fon account for you
[x] we top it with … day of wifi access (1day 3euro/day, 10days 2 euro/day)
and charge your account in advance…

It's something they should specify in advance or at checkin… you still have to provide a key… supply info about parking? public transport? just add the wifi part to the information…

In the end…really… most hotels just give it for free…
you ask for wifi? you get your “friend” password…
you tend to do things without asking…well… the info page shows enough info about “registering/paypal” which are “free sites” :-)

James … yes, I think you are correct, the key is price. But I think that's the same around the world, though. Americans are not unique in that respect. I do think we've been spoiled by cheap gas pretty much forever, though, so it's a shame that gas wasn't higher for a longer period of time to really change behavior and thinking. In the long term, though, China and India will be the issue as they develop. Even with conservation, though, the U.S. needs more oil. We have to break our oil ties to the middle east and start drilling more of our own reserves, while at the same time moving to other forms of clean energy.

Keywords, on the other hand, are small phrases that allow you to say which sort your video is related to. The correct key phrases can help your display screen within the appropriate research outcomes and will get you more YouTube views.

this is meant more to get people out of their houses. besides what he means by more computers than people is like in your t.v., washer, dryer, oven. say you’re outside with people but you want a nice home cooked meal, just get everything ready and just have your oven start cooking at a set time and have that connected to your wrist-comp to make sure it’s cooking correctly and modify the temperature or length of cook time. there you get more time outside doing things and still get healthy home made meals. and what the hell is all that about our children being afraid of the outdoors. my friends and I could be considered major computer geeks, one of my friends knows about 3 different computer programming codes, but we enjoy going out camping, and none of that park and camp shite we would rather go hiking to the spot, or just hiking for the hell of it. so don’t believe all the bull that is being portrayed by the super health guru jack offs, more computers doesn’t mean fatter kids or agoraphobic that is a huge lie. besides what the hell would a portable computer be good for if you can have a desktop which will always be tons better if you’re just gonna sit on your ass at home?

The Green Witch @ 1:20 pm #

There is surely more, John. I'm glad to see you out and about, discussing your interview!

Jason is correct that the key is the ability to respectfully debate difference between the two camps, and tentatively look for similarity, without relinquishing that which makes us different. I am sure, really, that we're all on the side of the good guys. I know this is an aspirational position to take; but I'm an optimist.

We need to perhaps follow the Temenos model – at the bas eof the triangle, we are widely different and perceived to be so. At the apex, however, we are surely all approaching Deity, despite our differing paths. This, I think it, the essential point that the more aggressively hegemonising forms of Chritianity forget. To their detriment, I believe.

I just watched Roger Miller do it on the old Johnny Cash Show with Johnny Cash. What a classic tune!! Oh btw, pretty awesome guitar that you have there! Bet you could really lay down some blues with that one! Nice!

Working in an office on a team with other employees is a social activity. Although there is work to be done and goals to accomplish, and although most of us stare at computer screens all day and spend most of the time in a cubicle or an office, many tasks require communicating with the people around us.

I find it easier to learn to use right-handed devices, so although my mouse is to the left of the keyboard, the left-hand button still has the same function that would be expected by a right-handed person. Interestingly, I can happily use a conventional mouse in my right hand without mirroring the buttons as one might expect.

Oh, and if you really want to confuse someone, dismantle his desk telephone and swap the 123 with the 789. We did this at work once and it was fascinating to watch the victim attempt to dial – the finger would approach the correct key based on muscle memory and then the brain would override and act on the visual information. Because calculators and PC keyboards are the other way up, it's not obvious.

Useless factoid – if you watch Michael Jackson videos, he always spins the same direction. If you ask people to spin around on one foot, they'll be consistent with choice of foot and direction. (I'm sure there's a route back to politics here, talking about spin…)

Nokia has been around since the time you first heard of mobile phones. Its near monopoly in the initial days and unshakable reputation has made it a brand name of gigantic proportions. It seemed like nothing could ever push it away from the scene. But that was only until now. This season if there is anything that is ruling the markets, its ‘Android’. The Linux based mobile OS from Google has stolen the show. While its enjoying the spotlight, people from Nokia are grunting curses in an undertone. They have publicly refused to ever manufacture handsets featuring Android. But how long could the two remain separated? Does the desire and anxiety of millions to see them join hands mean nothing? Well, as we found out, it does mean a lot.

Your title and your post are not on the same subject. A preamp is a device that takes a signal and converts it to [line Wikipedia words it quite well: > In contrast to line level, there are weaker audio signals, such as those from microphones and instrument pickups, and stronger signals, such as those used to drive headphones and loudspeakers. The strength of the various signals does not necessarily correlate with the output voltage of a device; it also depends on the source’s output impedance, or the amount of current available to drive different loads. What your actual question seems to be is “Why do people prefer hardware processors over their digital emulations?”, which is something you can find 100,000,000 message board threads on if you use Google. “It sounds better” could quickly sum up what you’re bound to find.

I guess I'm still amazed at how gimpy I was and how quickly I felt better. I hope DH heals up and you can enjoy the drive time. My hubs and I commuted together for three years across Houston. It was some of the best conversational times of our lives. We shared all our work drama and helped each other so that when we got home, we were ready for kids and dinner!

Drive safely and enjoy your broken routine. May I suggest a Starbucks with wifi access? They have a great deal with AT&T, all you need is a starbucks gift card, register it online and use it at least once a month, then you get wifi access fro FREE at Starbucks.

Hi Bernie

Yes, fast on the one hand… and a little drawn out on the other hand. But it is all relative in the end, and based on preconceived ideas and expectations.

I love how you said “it's like we pressed a button and a house unfolded” LOL – we definitely feel like that sometimes. Being integrated fully into the moment of now, all the moments that lead up to this technically don't exist, so here we are in this new house :)

Mmm, will have to look up those other planetary designers… something tells me that is not too far fetched… we have had various signals point at different times at signs of building on other dimensions.

And autumn, or rather the cold weather, seems to have come earlier than usual here too… or maybe that is just my feeling that the warmth of summer as if one day just disappeared…

Right, so my point is that several of the devices that this laptop contains are not supported by any release below Solaris Express(a.k.a Nevada) or OpenSolaris. The x3100 graphics adapter requires a driver that is only delivered by either of these “distributions”. The same is true of the wifi adapter. So again, the best thing you can do is to move to one of these distros.

The acting’s not the best…kind of reminds me of the film “Fast Food Nation”, but it was a good film (book is even better). I think this film may help get the message across to the young kids. Thanks for posting.

Why is it that most service industries expect staff to stand unless involved in a consultation or detailed transaction, but many libraries still use the seated staff, standing customer model? Historically some staff have felt more comfortable with a barrier between them and some customers, but I am frequently more uncomfortable with someone peering down at the top of my head! Taller counters, no counters, open sided service kiosks. This is a discussion that needs to be had at many libraries struggling to remain relevant.]]>
